Agadir Beach
Agadir’s main beach curves for about six kilometres along the bay, from the marina in the north to the river mouth in the south. The bay is sheltered from the biggest Atlantic swells, so the water is calmer here than on the open coast.
A wide promenade, the corniche, runs behind the sand, lined with cafés, hotels and restaurants. In the morning it is full of walkers and runners; in the evening, families come out to enjoy the cooler air.
The beach is good for swimming most of the year, though the Atlantic is never tropical. The water is at its warmest, around 21–22°C, from late July to early October. In winter it drops to about 17°C, which is bracing but fine for a quick swim on a sunny afternoon.
In summer, a north wind often blows in the afternoon. It keeps the heat down but can make the sand blow. The southern end of the beach is quieter and more open, with small waves suitable for beginner surfers and bodyboarders.
From May to August, mornings can start under low cloud and sea fog. It usually clears by late morning, leaving a sunny afternoon.
