Tamraght

Tamraght is a village on the hill between Agadir and Taghazout, 14 km north of the city. It is quieter than Taghazout and close to some of the easiest waves on the coast, which makes it popular with surf schools.

The village looks down on a long stretch of sand. Devil’s Rock is a beach break that works on most swells and is a classic place to learn. Further along, Banana Point, near the mouth of the river at Aourir, is a gentle right-hander that suits longboards.

Aourir, just next door, is known locally as Banana Village for the banana plantations along the river. Its roadside stalls sell small, sweet local bananas, and its streets are a good place to see everyday life outside the resorts.

Tamraght has the same mild climate as Agadir, with a little more wind. In winter, the sun sets right over the ocean, and the cliffs above Devil’s Rock are a good place to watch it.
