Imsouane
Imsouane is a small fishing village on a headland 90 km north of Agadir. Its bay holds a long, gentle right-hand wave that can run for several hundred metres, which makes it a favourite for longboarders and learners.
The village sits between two very different waves. The Bay is a slow, peeling point break that wraps around the harbour. On a good day you can ride it for well over a minute. Cathedral Point, on the other side of the headland, is faster, more exposed and better suited to experienced surfers.
Because the bay faces south and is sheltered by the headland, it often stays clean when the open coast is messy from the afternoon wind. It needs a decent northwest swell to wrap in, so it can be flat in summer while Cathedral still has waves.
Away from the water, life here turns around the port. Blue fishing boats come in late morning, and you can buy fish straight from the boats and have it grilled at one of the small places by the harbour. Evenings are quiet, and the sunset over the bay is the main event.
The weather is a little cooler and windier than in Agadir. Mornings in summer can start grey under a sea fog that usually burns off by midday.
